Jaya Jaya Vittala Panduranga! Sri Thukaram Ganapathy was born in Kadayanallur in Tirunelveli District, Tamil Nadu, under the name of Ganapathy Moorthy. He is the youngest brother of Kadayanallur Sri Ramakrishna Bhagavathar. Since his childhood, he developed a passion for Bhajans, especially in Abhanga form. He is a disciple of Sri Sri Anna, who conferred the title of Thukaram on him. Sri Sri Anna also gave him Mantra Deekshai. Sri Papabanda Maharaj gave him Deeksha for Varakari Sampradaya Sankirtan. Sri Thukaram named his house 'Vittal Vihar', installed Sri Vittal murthy, and has been conducting daily Pooja. Sri Thukaram has received many honours, including the titles of Bhagavatha Kainkaryamani and Bhajana Bhushan. He has instituted Vittoba Bhajan Mandali to train students in Abhangas, GoSamrakshana Trust to protect aged cows, and Panduranga Seva Samithi to take care of Lord Panduranga Temple, Vittalapuram, Tirunelveli District, Tamil Nadu. He has made Pada Yatra to Pandarpur with his followers, singing Abhangas.
Sri Sri Anna has blessed Sri Thukaram that whatever foreign land Sri Thukaram visits, it gets sanctified. With this approval, Sri Thukaram has visited many places abroad and spread Bhagavatha Dharmam. |
